What do you sell?
Right now, split Douglas fir firewood, sold loose in 4 x 4 x 4 foot totes for pickup at our Erie yard or delivery along I-25. We also list other species by order; see our species page and call to ask what is available.
How much is a tote of firewood?
One tote of Doug fir is $125 at the yard and holds about one-third of a stacked cord. Two totes are $230, and four totes (about 1 1/3 cords) are $440. See all prices.
Why do you sell by the tote?
Colorado rules say firewood must be advertised and sold by the cord or a fraction of a cord, and vague units that do not say how much wood you get are not allowed. A cord is 128 cubic feet of stacked wood. We sell by the tote and show the stacked-cord amount next to every price, so you can compare us fairly. Read the buying guide.
How much does delivery cost?
Delivery is a flat fee per stop by distance from the Erie yard: $20 within about 5 miles, $40 for roughly 5 to 15 miles, $65 for 15 to 25 miles and $85 for 25 to 35 miles. A cord of Doug fir delivered runs $350 to $415 depending on your town. See delivery areas.
Where do you deliver?
Along the I-25 corridor north of Denver traffic: Loveland, Berthoud, Johnstown, Mead, Longmont, Firestone, Frederick, Dacono, Erie, Lafayette, Louisville, Broomfield, Superior, Thornton, Northglenn and the north side of Westminster. If you are just outside that, call and ask.
Is Douglas fir good firewood?
Yes. Utah State University Extension's firewood table lists air-dried Douglas fir at 20.7 million BTU per cord, easy splitting, few sparks and a Good overall rating. That is more heat per cord than ponderosa pine (16.2), aspen (18.2) or spruce (15.5), but less than oak (24.6 or more). Like any softwood it burns faster than oak, so you will add wood more often.
Is the wood seasoned?
Our Doug fir is seasoned and split. Seasoned means dried before you burn it, which is how you get a hotter, cleaner fire. Ask us about moisture when you order.
Do you stack the wood?
We deliver loose in the tote or dumped, and stacking is not included. Tell us where you want it and how our truck gets in.
Do you sell bundles or bagged wood?
No. We sell Doug fir by the tote and by the cord fraction only. We do not bag or bundle.
What is the tote deposit?
If you take a tote home, there is a $30 deposit that you get back when you return the tote. Loading into your own truck or trailer is free.
Do you sell ash?
No. Emerald ash borer has been confirmed in Boulder, Broomfield, Larimer and Weld counties, and Colorado State Forest Service says not to move ash firewood. We do not sell it. Douglas fir is not an ash-borer host.
